Social Work

The social worker will act as liaison between the home, school and community.  This includes connecting families to and collaborating with community resources to obtain healthcare, food/clothing/basic necessities, mental health services, crisis support, and transportation as needed.

Individual Sessions

Sometimes students are experiencing a difficult time or situation and they may need extra support from the school counselor or social worker individually.  If you feel your child could benefit from this service, please call your child’s counselor or social worker.

Group Sessions

It is important for children to have good social and emotional health.  When they do, they communicate well, pay attention to adults, and get along with peers.  To help children learn and practice these important skills it is sometimes necessary to teach the skills directly and then give children many opportunities to practice them at school, at home, and around the community.

Classroom lessons

Throughout the year students will participate in classroom guidance lessons.  These lessons will reinforce and provide social and emotional skills in addition to their academics.  There will also be career counseling components mixed into the guidance lessons throughout the year as well.

SAP Program

The SAP team is a voluntary program providing supportive services designed to help address academic, social, behavioral and/or emotional concerns regarding your child.  Recommendations for in school and/or out of school services may be offered depending on  the team’s assessment of the needs of your child.

Confidentiality:

A student who participates in individual or group counseling has the right to privacy and confidentiality to build confidence and trust between student and counselor/social worker.  There are some exceptions to confidentiality and students are informed of the limitations of confidentiality at the time of their visit.

If you ever have any social, academic, emotional, and/or career related questions or concerns, please contact your school counselor or social worker.

If at any time you would like to exclude your child from individual and/or group counseling sessions please provide a written request that you decline services from the school counselor or social worker.
